In one of the world’s most remote locations, set on the island of New Guinea, stands the Bosavi Crater. The first time any non-native ever visited this sacred land was 2009, when scientists and the BBC filmed Lost Land of the Volcano. In November 2020 it is your opportunity to be part of a pioneering group invited to explore the Bosavi Crater on a first-of-its-kind adventure by helicopter to a land where truly very few have ever set foot.
Over 7 days we will explore the inner crater, coming face-to-face with creatures that only exist in this unique ecosystem, based on the crater rim with vertical views down into the pristine wonderland, and invited to take part in ancient rituals of the Kasua tribes people. The extinct volcano which last erupted around 250,000 years ago has collapsed in on itself, forming a huge crater four kilometres wide and over a kilometre deep. Lying within, a unique universe has evolved – completely independent from the world outside the crater walls – making Papua New Guinea’s Bosavi Crater a genuine Lost World just waiting to be discovered.
Partnering with Oceania Expeditions we are set to embark on a mind-boggling adventure like no other to explore an almost wholly unknown part of the planet.
