There are few trips that so effortlessly combine exploration of a bygone era with true modern luxury as the time spend aboard your own yacht. One of our favourite water-worlds to explore is the horseshoe-shaped, "Ring of Fire", so-called for the string of active volcanoes that line the world’s largest archipelago Indonesia - a literal hot-bed of geographical phenomena, home to staggeringly rich flora and fauna.
Naturally, the way to explore these scattered islands is the most traditional: by sea and sail. Named after a legend in which a young widow builds a boat capable of sailing towards the sun to honour the spirit of his beloved, Silolona is a hand-built wooden sailboat bedecked with lucky black sails.
